Dr Trevor Vickers joined the ANU in 1990 as an academic in the Computer Science
Department, having spent three years in post doctoral work at Oxford
University following completion of studies at the University of
New South Wales in 1996.
His formal association with PhD students began in 1995 as the Graduate School's
Convener of the Graduate Program in Computer Science and Engineering.
This association with the Graduate School led to his interest in its
Graduate Teaching Program which in 1995-6 was conducted as a pilot project
and led by John Clanchy.
At the conclusion of the pilot project Trevor was appointed to the half time
position of the permanent Coordinator of the GTP.
Following several years of a joint appointment between Computer Science
and the Graduate Teaching Program, Trevor relinquished his position in
Computer Science in 2001.
In 2003 Dr Vickers completed a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education through
ANU's Centre for Educational Development and Academic Methods.
In 2008 Trevor became the Head of the newly-established Research Student Development Centre,
which encompasses the GTP and other skill development programs.
